Is there more than one way to search for your disorder? Are abbreviations often used when referring to your disorder? Spell out abbreviations and consider alternate spellings, common names, etc. For example, you might search for “major depressive disorder” or depression, or OCD or "obsessive compulsive disorder."
Additionally, are there any other aspects of the film's main character that you might consider when searching for information? These might include gender, age, or other defining characteristics.
It can be challenging to start searching in databases without some basic understanding of your topic. You may need to gather additional background information from other sources to help identify more search terms.
Find background information in the textbook or a reputable website, such as a site from a national organization focused on your topic. Reputable websites may be helpful way to identify specific treatment options, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, which you can then search for in PubMed or Fusion.
Refer to the “Ego Defense Mechanisms” chart on p. 18-19 in the course textbook. The defense mechanisms are listed, along with a definition and an example. Remember, articles for this section of your paper can be older than 5 years.
